An Australian cleaning expert has invented a simple strategy for decluttering your wardrobe over the New Year period, and you just need to look at your coat hangers.

Mother-of-two Chantel Mila, who is from Melbourne, took to <a style=”font-weight: bold;” class=”class” rel=”nofollow noreferrer noopener” target=”_blank” website share her ingenious method, which she suggested trying before summer was over.

She starts by turning all of the coat hangers with clothes on them around so they’re backwards in her wardrobe.

Then, as she uses certain items, she washes them and places them back into the cupboard, this time with the coat hanger facing the right way.

When it’s time to declutter and sort through your stock the coat hangers that are still backwards are the ones that you haven’t worn and should be culled.

‘You’ll know exactly what you used and what you haven’t,’ she said.

Chantel’s fans were quick to acknowledge how effective her ‘hack’ appeared to be and insisted they would try it out for themselves as January 1 approaches.

‘This is so smart, what a good idea,’ one woman wrote underneath the video.
